Sophie Aubrey, née Williams, is the wife of Jack Aubrey, the hero of Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey-Maturin novels. She is the center of his life on land and the receiver of his long letters when he's at sea, and her gentle influence is noticeable in every novel.
